CocoArt: The Essence of Hainan, Crafted with Li Heritage

In the oldest Li villages of Hainan Island, a legend persists: every fallen coconut is a covenant between the sea and the forest. Within its hard shell lies a wandering seed, and with the hands of the Li people, it takes root and grows into a new story.

Our founder, a designer who once traveled the world, was captivated by a pair of coconut shell earrings carved by an elderly Li woman at the foot of Wuzhi Mountain. As the woman etched fishscalelike totems into the dark shell with her knife, she smiled and said, "The coconut may die, but its soul lives on." In that moment, our founder touched something far more precious than the material itself—the Li people’s dialogue with nature, where nothing is wasted, and life cycles endlessly through their craftsmanship.

Thus, CocoArt was born. We ventured into Li villages to learn the secrets of "firecarved coconut art" from ICH masters; collected coconut shells polished smooth by typhoon waves; and wove Li brocade motifs—like the Gangong bird and boatshaped house curves—into thethread patterns of our coffee canisters. What was once fuel for fires has become, in our hands, a vessel that breathes with life.
